Indivar Dutta-Gupta

Senior Advisor to the CEO

Indi is a seasoned policy expert, political advisor, and social justice advocate. He has led work to develop and advance policy recommendations that alleviate poverty and inequality, advance equity, and expand economic inclusion for all people in the United States. He frequently advises non-profits, foundations, worker groups, and political candidates on child, family and economic policy. Indi has helped enact, defend, or defeat several pieces of legislation and executive action both during and following his time in Congress. 

Indi has served as President and Executive Director of both the Center for Law and Social Policy and the Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality; a Senior Policy Advisor at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities; Project Director at Freedman Consulting, and as Professional Staff in Congress on the Ways and Means Committee.  

He is currently an Economic Fellow at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the National Academy of Social Insurance--where he is also an advisor to the CEO--and a Doris Duke Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.  He is also a Senior Advisor to the CEO of Community Change.

In addition to serving as a Senior Advisor to TPA's CEO, Indi also serves as a board member or on the advisory boards for the DC Fiscal Policy InstituteThe Futures Institute, and GoodWeave.

He is a former board member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and Coalition on Human Needs. He is currently a public member of a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee, and on the advisory committee for the Convergence Center for Policy Resolution.

He is a former Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellow, Harry S. Truman Scholar, US-Japan Leadership Program delegate, and co-chair of President Biden’s economic policy committee during the 2020 campaign.
